Headline news…..Osama bin Laden Dead! I know there are many Americans that heard this news and was both relieved and happy to hear of the death of this man. For many they got the closure they had been looking for since that September 11 day. On that day the Taliban rejoiced in victory at the attack on the U.S…Now citizens of our country are rejoicing for our “victory” here in recent events. Back and forth we fight. Back and forth we rejoice over lives lost. People want revenge. They want justice. At what cost? At what lost? I don’t want to get into the logistics of all of this but it is hard for me to listen to all of this and feel sadness or happiness. I feel disgust.
My thought for today is short and sweet. WHERE DOES IT END? What makes our government right? Daily they lead us into a world of turmoil for our “protection”….REALLY?! What makes us any different than those who attack us? It’s not ok for us to take the lives of those who wrong our families, but it’s ok for “The Man”? Leaving out the possibilities that our government are the ones who attacked our own people in the first place.
Ok..Ok…I don’t want to go into all the politics because it just isn’t me. I do not get too into the media…too much negativity for this mama. But in all seriousness….where does it end?
Every once in a while I like to open my favorite books, or use my cards to see a message that I need for today, the week, month, just whatever I feel like. I opened my grandmothers bible and this is what I got. I hope you can see the irony in how fitting this message truly is!
Those who say they love God and hate their brother, LIE, for if you hate your brothers whom we can see, then you could not love God, who we cannot see.~ John 4:20
Two wrongs never make a right. Adding fuel to the fire never makes it go out. Dealing hate, with hate, never makes love. I don’t want to make this a drawn out topic because it is what it is and I cannot control the actions of others and our government…so I am going to leave here with some of my fave quotes.
“Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I am not perfect and I don’t live to be, but before you go pointing fingers make sure your hands are clean. “- Bob Marley
We have a choice to either live a life of positivity and light. A life we truly would like to see for all. Or we can engulf ourselves with the media, hate, and destruction of the world. It may seem like a task to large for one individual to change the world….BUT…have you tried? In the last century Ghandi brought peace to a nation with out a single shot being fired….(on his part). For this topic his wise words speak ions…..if you ask me…..
“An eye for an eye only ends up leaving the whole world blind”~ Ghandi
All that being said………Where does it end? Think about it?
